Sin-Eater is an individual who should have died but didn't because they made a bargain with a Geist (ghost/spirit thing) and basically merged souls with it. Spake, the protagonist of this drawing, should have died of smoke inhalation when the poorly maintained club he went to became an inferno but he made the Bargain and thanks to it still walks. Now one thing about the Bargain is that the Geist allows the Bound (person its attached to) to use some of its powers- like fire, passion, and illusion.
